Shepherds huts make ideal home offices/studies; an extra guest bedroom; for glamping; for a rental income, or just a lovely feature to enjoy in your garden.

This was our hand crafted shepherds hut, made in our joinery workshop last summer, where we have 37 years of carpentry and joinery experience. We endeavoured to keep this hut as traditional in style as possible, without the flimsy construction as seen by many. This hut was built to last.

The hut was set on four new solid cast iron wheels, cast iron traditional turn table, on solid oak cross-members, on redwood bearers. The ti-rod between axels was salvaged from an original Norfolk shepherds hut. Included was a detachable heavy duty tow bar, which could be removed and refitted in seconds. All ironmongery was either galvanised or painted stainless steel.

The floor was 18mm ply, with 25mm Celotex insulation, with engineered oak flooring on top. The main construction was pressure treated softwood, with Celotex insulation between. The external cladding was joinery redwood tongue and groove boarding machined by us. Internal walls were clad in moisture resistance moulded MDF boarding.

All the joinery used traditional methods, including mortice and tennons throughout the stable door and windows. The stable door had two 5 lever locks. They are also made of hardwood, and the glass is double glazed. The skirting was made of solid oak, and the roof timbers were laminated softwood beams with ply roof, with foil backed insulation and a corrugated steel roof.

There was an electrical hookup to the hut, and inside were two double and one single power sockets, in an antique brass finish. There was one industrial style metal light inside with retro bulb, and an exterior barn light. A 2kw electrical wood burning style stove, set on a stone hearth, provided more than adequate heat on a low setting. A convertible fold down bed, which can sleep two, could also be used as a sofa.

Included with this hut were a hand painted vintage bureau, a rustic chair, the bed, a cupboard housing the electrics, hand made rustic coat rack, and a small lamp.
